Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive therapy that
works by sending short magnetic pulses to the areas of the brain that
influence thoughts, emotions and behaviors. TMS has shown to be an alternative

What is TMS

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain.

During the treatment, a small coil is placed on the patient’s head and painless magnetic pulses are sent to the targeted area of the brain. This stimulation can improve symptoms of these mental health issues.

TMS is a well-tolerated depression treatment option that does not require any anesthesia or surgery. TMS treatment typically involves daily sessions over several weeks and patients can resume their normal activities immediately following each session.

If you have questions about TMS or whether it may be an appropriate treatment for you, speak with your healthcare provider.
