rTMS for Depression: Principles, Evidence, and Practice
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is an innovative, non-invasive neurostimulation technique that plays an increasingly important role in the treatment of various neuropsychiatric disorders – particularly treatment-resistant depression. The webinar begins with a solid introduction to the neurophysiological foundations of rTMS, illustrating how targeted magnetic pulses can influence the activity of specific brain regions and modulate neural networks.
The second part provides an overview of the current scientific evidence regarding various indications for rTMS. This includes a critical discussion of its efficacy, limitations, and potential side effects, as well as a review of the latest studies and guideline recommendations.
Finally, participants will receive practical guidance for clinical implementation – covering patient selection, device settings, safety considerations, and individualized treatment planning.
Speaker: Prof. Dr. med. Michael Landgrebe is a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy. He serves as the Medical Director of kbo Lech-Mangfall-Kliniken GmbH and as Head Physician at the Agatharied site. His scientific focus lies in the treatment of affective disorders, schizophrenia, and psychosomatic conditions such as chronic tinnitus, as well as in the clinical application and research of modern neurostimulation techniques. Prof. Landgrebe has been deeply involved with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for over 20 years. He has participated in numerous clinical and scientific studies and is considered one of the most experienced experts in this field in the German-speaking world.
