tms for professionals

TMS for therapy, diagnostics and clinical research

TMS is one of the fastest growing treatments in the field of mental health and a valid alternative for patients who do not respond to or cannot take medication. Adding TMS to your toolkit can diversify your offerings and expand your business as a health professional or researcher.

what is tms

Magnetic Stimulation

Magnetic stimulation is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction, whereby rapidly changing magnetic fields induces an electrical field in the nervous system. The electric field changes the electrical potential over the nerve cell wall, and if this change is large enough, an action potential in the nerve will be generated.
If the induced electric field and thereby the induced current is of sufficient amplitude and duration, cortical or neuromuscular tissue will be stimulated.
Magnetic stimulation represents a form of “electrode less electrical stimulation”, without the level of pain experienced with normal electrical stimulation. The minute amount of electricity created cannot be felt by the exposed individual, but still the electric charges activate the neurons.
This technique is ideally suited to stimulating superficial tissues like the motor nerves (Functional Magnetic Stimulation – FMS) and the cerebral cortex (TMS or repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)).
Single-pulse TMS and other more recent versions (paired-pulse TMS, repetitive TMS, integration with structural and functional MRI, and neuronavigation) allow motor output to be mapped precisely to a given area of the body. Moreover, TMS can be used to evaluate excitatory/inhibitory intracortical circuits and to provide information on brain physiology and pathophysiology of various neuropsychiatric diseases as well as on the mechanisms of brain plasticity.

How TMS can help your practice

Effective and non-invasive

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive treatment option for various mental health conditions, including depression. Clinical studies have shown that TMS can significantly reduce depressive symptoms in patients who do not respond to traditional treatments.

Low operating costs

With MagVenture TMS Therapy, there are no pay-per-use fees, which means that the recurrent operational cost is very low and requires only a one-time investment during the product lifetime.

The system is easy to use

At MagVenture, we prioritize reliable and user-friendly systems. We assist in every step of the process, from selecting the most suitable system for your requirements to complete installation and staff training, as well as ongoing service and support.

tms as viable treatment alternative

Psychiatry

TMS is one of the fastest growing therapies in mental health for treating depression and OCD. Due to its high efficacy, TMS offers a viable alternative for patients who do not respond to or cannot tolerate medication. Evidence suggests that multiple treatment modalities – TMS combined with counselling or psychotherapy – can lead to improved outcomes.

As well as making a difference in people’s lives, adding TMS to your psychiatry or psychology practice, can be an effective way to diversify your offerings to patients and future-proof your business.

ADVANCED NEUROMODULATION

Exploring the brain with TMS research

Enabling researchers to gain an even deeper understanding of the human brain is just as important now as it was when MagVenture introduced our first TMS device back in 1992. MagVenture has, since the very beginning, engaged in long-term, close collaborations with numerous high-ranking neuroscience research institutions and facilities worldwide, allowing scientists to continuously challenge and push the limits of TMS.

MagVenture offers advanced neuromodulation systems for TMS research. From a turn-key solution for interleaved TMS-fMRI to Magnetic Seizure Therapy, or even TMS on rodents, MagVenture is capable of solving demanding needs from researchers around the world.
